Studying can be stressful with lots of assignments and assessments. But in my case, I am having a great time. The combination of fresh air, no traffic, newfound friends make my learning more interesting and help me cope up easily. The support system given for international students from our school is really great. The learning advisors are also a big help in giving comments and tips to improve our essays and research papers. A one-week break during the term is a big help to rest our minds and reset our energy levels for the remaining weeks of the term. This break is also a good time to explore the country and visit places that will make you closer to nature. It is something that my partner and I really love!
Another interesting thing is dealing with people from different cultures – from the tutors, to school staff, and classmates. I am amazed by how we are all different but still can find a common ground or topic to start a conversation with – like family and food! And I do not feel any discrimination at all.
One thing that also amazes me is the equal opportunity given to international students to find a job. A student can work up to 20 hours per week and this is really a big help to be able to keep up with the cost of living in this country. I may have brought pocket money with me but I still chose to have a part-time work to be able to also get a New Zealand experience.
I have been to different countries but I would say that New Zealand is so far the one that is very conducive for studying. There may be pros and cons in this country but I really fell in love in this place and would recommend to my friends and relatives who are also planning to study abroad.
