Waiuku College is a co-educational high school located in the rural town of Waiuku, just 60kms from Auckland City Centre.
Our school motto is a Maori expression, ‘Titiro Teitei’ which exhorts us to aim for our best in all we do. Our students achieve highly in a wide range of areas, particularly academically with consistently high pass rates over 80%. Numbers achieving excellence endorsements are high.
We are fortunate also, to live amongst such an attractive rural and farming environment with wild west coast beaches, the meandering Waikato River and the wide open Manukau Harbour all only minutes from our school, and of course we are nestled in the heart of the scenic and historic Waiuku township.
The college offers a wide range of subjects including Japanese and Spanish Languages, along with ESOL tuition. Waiuku College has an excellent mix of international students which make up less than 5% of the total student numbers. Because of its small size, students get a lot of personalised attention from teachers. Waiuku is a small town with a friendly community offering students a great kiwi experience living either in town or in the countryside. The town is on the edge of the Manukau harbour and only 7 kms from the West Coast. The school offers opportunities for many types of sports including horse-riding and surfing.
Waiuku has large sports grounds with a lot of green space, 2 gymnasiums, a rock climbing wall and tennis courts. The school is 5 minute walk to the town centre and usually within walking distance to town homestays.
Comments From Our Students:
“Attending Waiuku College was the most precious experience I had in my life. All the people in Waiuku College were so friendly and kind, the teachers were very helpful with my study and English. Because of their help I was able to pass my subjects and get into the university that I wanted. I strongly suggest Waiuku College to any one who is keen to experience a traditional Kiwi style of college.”
“I’ve had the time of my life at Waiuku College! The people in Waiuku are absolutely lovely and it’s so easy to make friends. I’m still in touch with a lot of people I met on my exchange and especially my host family who are like a second family to me now. There’s so much to do: kayaking to the waterfall, going for a swim at Kariotahi Beach.”
