Yoanna Leung’s dream is to travel around the world experiencing different lifestyles.
To make her dream come true, after spending two years at secondary school in New Zealand Yoanna started studying for a Hospitality Management Diploma at Queenstown Resort College.
“Queenstown is a good place to learn because there are lots of hotels here. It’s also in the world-famous Central Otago wine region, so I’ve been able to learn a lot about wine,” says Yoanna.
We can email the teachers at any time with our questions, and we have student support teachers who are always happy to check the English grammar in our reports
Yoanna spent nine months of her course on an internship in Auckland, working as a front desk receptionist at New Zealand’s largest hotel.
“I enjoyed my internship and felt I was valued for my ability to speak Cantonese, Mandarin and English,” Yoanna says.
“The people at the hotel really cared about the international students on internships. If we were willing to learn, they were willing to teach us.”
Yoanna plans to go skydiving before leaving Queenstown to embark on the next stage of her adventure.
“I feel that in the future I will be able to travel around the world, holding my hospitality certificate in my hand.
