COLC is a small boutique English Language school in one of the most beautiful parts of New Zealand. The school has been operating for 30 years and has experienced staff who look for ways to use our environment and community in your learning. We are an adult school with a minimum age of 16 years.

Our General Course is 21 hours per week and provides all the normal facets of English language learning combined with a small amount of English learning outside the classroom. We teach communicative English in small classes and we believe in "Learning by Doing". We have extensive activity and environmental programs that encourage students to practice the language they are learning in everyday situations.
Whitianga is a small safe town, and the small size of the school allows us to create a warm family atmosphere, and it is this family feeling that we are often best remembered for.
COLC is rated as a category one school by NZQA.

This school is situated in a renovated Kauri villa with  a large lawn and garden area.  It is situated directly across the road from the water, in a town that is a popular holiday destination.  We have a volleyball court outside and a table tennis table inside.  There is a kitchen available for the students and free Wifi is available throughout the school.

We run activity courses in the summer, and these include visits to many different places of interest, water sports and lots of beach visits.  There are 25 beaches within 40 mins of the school.  The school also runs several environmental projects, ranging from sand dune protection and kauri planting, to kiwi protection and track maintenance, and our students can become involved in all these projects.

COLC runs an Open Night every Thursday evening, which is a social event that encourages all students to get to know each other, and may be a dinner together prepared by the students, a BBQ, a games evening or some othjer fun event.
