The NZ Certificate in Information Technology Essentials (Level 4) is a 60 credit programme, consisting of four 15-credit courses. This 18-week programme (excluding study breaks) is intended to educate students on the basics of Information and Communications Technology.

This programme has a practical, hands-on focus which will provide you with the transferable skills and knowledge to be employed in a range of entry level support roles in an organisation, that may include business support and retail roles and some roles in the IT profession under broad guidance. Successful completion of this qualification also provides automatic entry to Whitecliffe’s ICT programmes at Level 5 and new Bachelor of Applied Information Technology (Level 7) (subject to NZQA approval and accreditation).

Entry criteria

NCEA University Entrance or equivalent CIE/IB award. Note that discretionary entrance is available to students who have gained exceptional marks in level 2 NCEA. Some of the above academic requirements may be waived for students over 20 years of age.

IELTS test: General or Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5
