What will you learn
You will use applied techniques to achieve complex mounts, manufacturing techniques, Rhino CAD and design projects that culminate in your capstone project. You will create a viable business plan to establish and develop your goals within the context of a proposed business plan.
Projects will be made entirely by hand or blended with other manufacturing techniques to produce viable jewellery designs to a brief.
This program is closely linked to employment-focused activities and will suit anyone who is considering goldsmithing and jewellery as a career.
Career Pathways: Self-employed or employed as a Goldsmithing Jeweller, Maker in associated creative industries.
Education Pathways: Learners may wish to undertake further study with PMGS, in the field of wider jewellery techniques and their application.
Qualifications you will gain
NZ Diploma in Jewellery, Level 6
Minimum Requirements - You must be 18 years of age or older, and have English at NCEA Level 1 or equivalent, as all tuition is conducted in English, completed NZ Diploma in Jewellery (level 5) or demonstrated equivalent knowledge or skills.
Detailed Requirements - An audition is required and is free of charge. Prior experiences or achievements are not assessed unless requested.
English Language Requirements
Student from a country with a visa decline rate of more than 20%:
NCEA Level 3 with University Entrance or equivalent
Certificate of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA)
