Summary

Want to create digital content but don’t know where to start?

Learn about photo, video, audio and digital image manipulation and how they combine to create engaging content over a range of digital platforms and social media.

Discover a new skill set through practical real-world exercises that allow you to turn your camera, phone and computer into a creator studio.

This digital media and design course teaches you foundational skills in online content creation with popular Adobe software. You’ll learn about professional practice, being a responsible digital citizen and the ways in which you can monetise the content you create.

The course will prepare you for internship opportunities, freelancing or further study in one of MIT’s advanced digital technology or business programmes.

Career opportunities

Assistant and/or support roles in various industries including advertising, web design, in-house design studio, news media.

Programme structure

You will need to complete the below four courses (60 credits):

813.421 Introduction to digital media and design (15 credits)

813.422 Communication, ethical working and project management (15 credits)

813.423 Delivering a design brief in the workplace (10 credits)

813.424 Video creation and editing in the workplace (20 credits)

Further training or study

Graduates of this qualification may undertake further tertiary study at diploma or degree level in the fields of design, media, and/or art.

Graduates who successfully complete this programme will be able to pathway into:

New Zealand Diploma in Information Technology Technical Support (Level 5)
Bachelor of Digital Technologies (Level 7) (majors in Networking, Software and Web Development and Data Analytics)

Entry criteria

Applicants are required to complete Year 12 or equivalent of secondary school.

Entry requirements vary from country to country.

IELTS test: Academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5; TOEFL Paper-based test (pBT): Score of 530 (with an essay score of 4.5 TWE); TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT): Score of 46 (with a writing score of 14); Cambridge English Examinations: B2 First or B2 First for schools with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skill; OET at Grade C in all sub-tests; Pearson Test of English (Academic): PTE (Academic) score of 42 with no band score lower than 36
