This qualification will support those in or seeking a role as a health sector professional, services or project manager to fulfil their potential to contribute positively to economic, social, cultural and community outcomes by equipping individuals to advocate and lead health initiatives in their own or others healthcare businesses.
Graduates from this programme will be provided with effective and current research-based knowledge, skills, attitudes and the practical experiences to work effectively as innovative ‘thinking’ health project, product or service managers.
In addition to developing skills in management, marketing planning and control, healthcare management and research methods for healthcare management, the programme includes a 10-week internship within New Zealand’s dynamic Healthcare companies.
Graduates from the DIPLOMA IN APPLIED BUSINESS (Healthcare Management) (Level 7) may progress onto Post-graduate studies at NZIE or one of our partner Universities.
Upon graduation, learners may expect to undertake the following roles :
Health Project Manager, Health Programme Leader, Community Health Centre Manager, Community Health Manager, Mental Health Sector Manager, Health and Safety Manager, Marae, Pasifika or Ethnic Group Health Manager, Aged Care Centre Manager, Elder Recreation Centre, Marae Health Facility, Care Facility Manager, Clinic Manager, Practice Manager, Health Centre Manager, Multi-disciplinary Health, Quality or Therapy Centre Team Leader or Manager roles.
Students must have completed: NZQF level 5, or a 3-year Diploma, or a Degree, in a field related to applicants chosen major for Advanced Management, International Marketing and Hospitality Management majors, in an engineering discipline for Engineering Management major, in a healthcare related discipline for the Healthcare Management major.
Applicants for whom English is not their first language are required to have an IELTS academic score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5, or TOEFL (pBT) score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE), or TOEFL (iBT) score of 60 (with writing score of 18), or Cambridge English Examinations FCE, or FCE for schools, or CAE, or CPE with a score of 169. No less than 162 in each skill, with the academic endorsement, or Pearson Test of English (Academic) with an Academic score of 50, or City & Guilds IESOL, B2 communicator or with a score of 66. Results must come from one test conducted in the last 2 years.
