FCertEAP is ideal if you have met the academic requirements for the University of Auckland or some other New Zealand tertiary institutions, but have not reached the English language requirements. This programme ensures you gain the English proficiency and academic literacy needed for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses. Successfully completing the FCertEAP programme with the required grade for your academic study programme will meet the English language requirements for entry to a number of New Zealand tertiary institutions. English language entry requirements You can meet the English language entry requirements for FCertEAP through one of the following test results: ELA test Postgraduates minimum CEFR level B2 Undergraduates minimum CEFR level B1+ Undergraduate IELTS: Overall 5.0; Writing 5.0; Other bands 4.5 PTE-A Overall 36; Writing 36; Other bands 29; TOEFL iBT Overall 60; Writing 18; Other bands 12; Postgraduate IELTS: Overall 5.5; Writing 5.5; Other bands 5.0; PTE-A Overall 42; Writing 42; Other bands 36; TOEFL iBT Overall 70; Writing 21; Other bands 14 Students who do not meet the above requirements can still apply and will receive an offer of place for two blocks (20 weeks) of Academic English. Students who do not reach the required level in the ELA placement test can join FCertEAP after successfully completing EAP Intro (undergraduate) or EAP 1 (postgraduate). In order to ensure success, candidates ideally should enter with an IELTS score not lower than 1.0 band away from their conditional offer language requirement. A list of all New Zealand tertiary institutions that recognise the FCertEAP is available on request. The Academic IELTS score must have been issued within two years of the FCertEAP commencement date.
