Summary

This certificate will qualify you to work in a senior role as an Office Administrator or help you achieve an industry recognised national qualification. You will learn to apply business applications, use technical devices and administration skills to contribute to business performance and productivity. Graduates will be able to perform a wide range of administrative duties and tasks under broad guidance in a bi- and multi-cultural environment.

You will learn how to:

  • Apply keyboard and word processing skills
  • Produce a range of specialist business documents
  • Process financial information
  • Provide appropriate customer service
  • Display oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Process data and create spreadsheets

Career Options

Graduates of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge to work, or gain employment, in a wide range of general office administration roles in a variety of sectors, under broad guidance. These may include: a sole-charge role in a small business entity, senior receptionist, customer relationship roles, personal assistants and secretaries, lead administrator, front line customer service roles, call or contact centre operators, office support workers, web administrator, service desk coordinator.

Further Study Options

New Zealand Diploma in Business with strands in Accounting or Management and Leadership Level 5.

Entry criteria

Students beginning their programmes are at least 18 years of age.

Students must also meet the English language proficiency requirements as below:

  • IELTS 5.5 (academic) overall with no less then 5.0 in any band.
  • TOEFL (pBT) score of 530 (with an essay score of 4.5 TWE)
  • TOEFL (iBT) score of 46 (with a writing score of 20)
  • FCE, or FCE for schools with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skill. OET at Grade C in all sub-tests.
  • PToE (Academic) score of 42
  • City & Guilds IESOL B2 Communicator with a score of 42
  • NZCEL Level 3 with an endorsement of Applied
  • LanguageCert - B2 Communicator IESOL (LRWS) with PASS
