Summary

This programme will enable graduates to:

  • Follow workplace policies, procedures and relevant regulations to work safely and effectively in an automotive workshop
  • Use tools and equipment to complete basic workshop engineering tasks
  • Apply fundamental automotive engineering knowledge to service engine, and driveline systems
  • Check operation of, and perform minor repairs on, electrical and electronic systems
  • Apply fundamental automotive engineering knowledge to service steering, suspension and brake systems.

CAREER PATHWAY

Graduates of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge to work in an entry level position in the automotive industry.

EDUCATION PATHWAY

This qualification can lead to level 4 qualifications in automotive engineering.

Entry criteria

Motor Industry qualification at level 2, including NCEA Level 2 Vocational Pathway in Manufacturing and technology sector or equivalent knowledge and skills is preferred.

All applicants must be 16 years of age or over and be able to demonstrate that their Literacy and Numeracy levels show a readiness to succeed in this course.

Applicants are also required to show a readiness or interest in the automotive trades area.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT

IELTS Academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5 NZCEL L4 (Academic)

Any equivalent Internationally Recognised English Proficiency Outcomes for International Students recognised by NZQA
