The purpose of the NZDB Level 5 programme is to provide Aotearoa New Zealand with people who have general and specialised knowledge and skills that can be applied in a range of operational roles.

The overall aim of this programme is to inspire and transform learners by equipping them with knowledge, essential business skills, attitudes and values underpinning key leadership and management functions in typical business environments. This programme also aims to provide New Zealand business entities with people who are, or can be, employed in management roles at an operational level and who can contribute to the management and leadership of business entities to achieve agreed objectives and achieve the entity’s objectives at an operational level in a bi-cultural and multi-cultural environment.

Graduate Outcomes

Apply knowledge of the principles and practices of operations, accounting, sales/marketing, human resources, and risk management to support the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the entity. Contribute in operational contexts to innovation and organisational change within a business entity.

Who Should Enrol

Who are interested in:

  • entering NZDB L6 programme; or
  • transferring credits and continuing to study business degree; or
  • gaining a level 5 operational business qualification; or
  • building solid foundation for academic excellence

Graduate Options - What You May Get

Option 1:

Be eligible to enter the NZ Diploma in Business Level 6 (which may lead to more credits transfer to a business degree or two-year open work visa which provides you a valuable opportunity to build work experience in New Zealand).

Option 2:

May transfer up to 60 credits to a commerce/business degree in a university via our Degree Pathway agreements with average B grade.

Entry criteria

Applicants must be a High school graduate.

Applicants for whom English is not a first language must either have met the English language proficiency outcomes defined below:

  • IELTS 5.5 with no band score lower than 5, or any equivalent; or
  • Completed two years study at a NZ secondary school and achieved either NCEA Level 3 or New Zealand University Entrance or both.
  • NZ Certificate in English language NZCEL L3-Applied qualification
