Summary

This programme will help you on your journey towards further study in engineering.

Develop academic skills and independent study and self-management skills by working on a series of interesting projects.

Literacy and numeracy skills are included in the projects and prepare students for further academic study or occupational options in a career pathway of your choice.

Our classrooms are supportive learning environments that promote independence and confidence.

Programme structure

You will need to complete the below four courses (60 credits):

141.322 Mathematics in Practice (15 credits)

The purpose of this course is to develop and expand the students’ knowledge and understanding of numeracy through real-world learning experiences in order to meet the varied demands of their personal life, study and intended career destination

181.338 Communication in Practice (15 credits)

The purpose of this course is to develop and expand the students’ knowledge and understanding of literacy through real-world learning experiences in order to meet the varied demands of their personal life, study and intended career destination.

Pathway Projects

The purpose of these courses is to enable students to progressively apply, consolidate and demonstrate the skills and knowledge developed in this and the Numeracy and Literacy courses through real-world learning experiences in order to meet the varied demands of their personal life, study and intended career destination.

Pathway Projects splits into two courses.

  • 161.315 Pathway Project A (15 credits)
  • 161.316 Pathway Projects B (15 credits)

Further study

New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical) (Level 6)

Entry criteria

Applicants are required to complete Year 12 or equivalent of secondary school.

Entry requirements vary from country to country.

IELTS test: General or Academic score of 5 with no band score lower than 5; TOEFL Paper-based test (pBT): Score of 500 (with an essay score of 4 TWE); TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT): Score of 35 (with a writing score of 14); Cambridge English Examinations: B2 First or B2 First for Schools with a score of 154. No less than 154 in each skill; OET at Grade C in all sub-tests; Pearson Test of English (Academic): PTE (Academic) score of 36 with no band score lower than 36.
