A Bachelor of Applied Science will open up a variety of career opportunities for you. This major is ideal if you would like to study a range of courses to suit your career goals. You can choose elective options from any Open Polytechnic qualification at Level 5 and above to help advance your career in diverse areas such as accounting, management, HR, marketing, teaching and more.

What you will learn

  • How to identify and define problems and devise appropriate solutions.
  • Communicate information, concepts and arguments clearly and effectively.

This qualification will prepare you for a range of careers in both the public and private sectors.

You can study this programme part-time if you’re an international student living in New Zealand or overseas. If you’re living in New Zealand you will need to be in paid employment with a valid work permit.

Entry criteria

You must be at least 17 years of age at the start of the programme and have one of the following: New Zealand University Entrance

Passes in New Zealand certificate/diploma qualifications/courses considered appropriate by the programme leader.

An overseas qualification assessed to be equivalent to either of the above by the programme leader.

IELTS test – a score of 6 (Academic) with no band score lower than 5.5

Cambridge English Qualifications - B2 First, or B2 First for Schools, or C1 Advanced, or C2 Proficiency with a score of 169. No less than 162 in each skill.
