Are you are adaptable, resilient and looking for a fast-paced business career where no two days are the same?

This qualification is useful for people who want to develop the skills and tools to analyse and respond to challenging industry environments or who want a career in change management. Successful graduates will be able to read the current business climate and think on their feet to create actionable strategies for businesses to increase their profits/commercial sustainability. This one-year qualification allows you to gain focused knowledge in a complementary discipline without having to undertake a full degree.

After undertaking a series of compulsory courses, you will then apply your cumulative learning in a practical industry project. Benefit from the guidance and support of highly experienced staff who will help you gain industry-relevant skills that you can apply directly to the real-world of business and management strategy, transformation and change.

You will study

You will complete 120 credits of learning, of which 75 must be at Level 7.

Your workload

Your programme of study will generally include lectures and seminars/ tutorials. You will be expected to contribute at least 20 hours per week of your own time in self-directed study to allow for successful completion of the qualification.

You will also complete a 200-hour industry project, gaining hands-on experience and developing important industry and business connections

Further study options

Progress into higher levels of learning and enhance your employment potential with postgraduate study in Business Change and Management. Further graduate diploma studies in Business Information Systems or Innovation and Entrepreneurship could be of interest.

You will study

Project Management: Learn about project management terms and concepts, the organisational and environmental context, project initiation, planning, implementation and control, and closure and review.

Principles of Leadership: Develop an understanding of the nature and scope of personal leadership, and learn how to plan for your ongoing development as a leader. You will also learn to apply leadership knowledge and skills to the management of change.

Organisational Behaviour: Understand the theory and research behind employees’ behaviour, individual and group dynamics, leadership styles, power and organisational structures, motivation and team culture.


Business Transformation and Change: Learn about perspectives on managing organisational change, discontinuous change, change management models and building change capability within organisations.

Strategic Management: Focus on the development of practical skills in strategic analysis, planning and implementation. Gain an understanding of the nature and purpose of strategic management and its importance to organisational success. Undertake and interpret an environmental (external and internal) scan of the context in which organisations operate and learn how to formulate and evaluate strategic options, and implement plans for success in response to changing circumstances.

Industry Project: This provides an opportunity to balance theory with applied learning in your workplace or host organisation and tailor your studies accordingly to your interest. The project involves a workload of 200 hours, completing a written research project investigating an issue/problem that adds value to the organisation. This industry project will be useful in developing team work, communication and other soft skills/capabilities and in helping establish industry connections post-graduation.

Entry criteria

  • A bachelor's degree in any discipline OR equivalent skills/experience.
  • You may NOT enrol in a major that you have already studied at undergraduate level.

International students will be individually assessed to ensure they meet the entry requirements.

If English is not your first language, you must also demonstrate English language skills equivalent to an IELTS overall band score (academic) of 6.0, with no less than 5.5 in any band.

TOEFL Paper-based test (pBT): Score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE)

TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT): Score of 60 (with a writing score of 18)

Cambridge English Assessments: B2 First, or B2 First for schools, or C1 Advanced, or C2 Proficiency with a score of 169. No less than 162 in each skill;

Pearson Test of English (Academic): PTE (Academic) score of 50 with no band score lower than 42

Language Certificate: C1 Expert IESOL (LRWS) with PASS and no less than Pass in each skill
