To meet the demands of the increasingly diverse art and design industries, UCOL’s Bachelor of Design and Arts degree includes majors in visual arts, graphic design and textile/fashion design to give you the competitive edge in these exciting fields.

All students in the Bachelor of Design and Arts programme will choose a major area of study which could include:

  • Visual Arts: Painting, sculpture, photography, glass, digital arts

Entry criteria

Applicants under 20 years of age:

  • University entrance
  • Or equivalent academic achievement.
  • Or on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Executive Dean.

Applicants over 20 years of age:

  • A person having reached the age of 20 years by the first day of the programme in the year, for which admission is sought, is not required to hold the above entry qualifications.

All prospective students must provide a portfolio and written statement.

Applicants whose first language is not English must have an IELTS score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5 (or equivalent including TOEFL). IELTS scores used must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form (i.e. combining scores from more than one test is not permissible) not less than 2 years old at the time of submitting the enrolment application. TOEFL (iBT): Score of 60 (with a writing score of 18); Cambridge B2 First (for Schools), C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency: B2, C1, or C2 with score of 169; no less than 162 in each skill; OET: Minimum Grade C or 200 in all subtests; PToE (Academic): Score of 50 with no band less than 42.
