This programme is designed for overseas trained electronics engineers to enable them to improve and develop their English skills in order to be able to seek employment or continue their studies in New Zealand. The programme consists of an Intensive English Study for 26 weeks, which includes seminars and workshops. The seminars and workshops are designed to introduce electronics engineers to New Zealand electronics engineering industry (including the workplace language such as vocabulary and common industry terminologies), living in New Zealand and workplace culture. The engineers would also be taught on how to write a CV, search for jobs, apply for jobs and attend an interview. The entry requirements for this programme are: Diploma in Engineering (Electronics/Telecommunications), or Bachelor degree in electronics/telecommunications (for example, BTech, BSc or BE); at least two years work experience and at least 12 months relevant work experience in the past 18 months. The degree or diploma has to be from an engineering college or university that is recognised by NZQA in NZ; have been learning English in own country and have at least an IELTS score of 5.0, (preferably 5.5).
