A hospitality degree can set you up for careers around the world. The Bachelor of International Hospitality Management is widely recognised in the industry and acclaimed by the country's top hospitality operators.

Hospitality careers cover everything from creating experiences for people in some of the world’s most exciting and exotic destinations to hosting, accommodating and managing events.

In the Bachelor of International Hospitality Management you learn to manage food and beverage, and accommodation operations and develop key skills in human resource management, strategic management, and sales and marketing. Your final year includes valuable workplace experience, working with an organisation on a project related to your studies.

If you’re interested in dealing with the staffing and training side of hospitality and tourism, the Human Resource Management major will give you the tools you need to find and develop the right people.

Hotels, tourism ventures, travel companies and restaurants have to find the right people for the job – the better their team is, the more customers enjoy their experience.

In this major you will develop the essential knowledge and skills required for the training, development and recruitment of personnel from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Entry criteria

All applicants need to meet AUT’s minimum entry requirements qualification equivalent to New Zealand year 13 or University Entrance.

Useful New Zealand school subjects: All subjects are useful, in particular language rich subjects from AUT’s subject list

English Language requirements:

Minimum IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 overall with all bands 5.5 or higher; or equivalent; TOEFL iBT score of 80; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with B/B+ grade; GIE with B grade; CAE minimum overall score of 169; PTE minimum overall score of 50.
