This major explores the theory and science behind the management and use of information, including information science, information modelling, data mining, knowledge engineering and database design. You learn to devise effective solutions for information generation, processing and delivery. You’ll also develop an understanding of the technical aspects of database design and programming for information retrieval and presentation.

Entry criteria

All applicants need to meet AUT’s minimum entry requirements qualification equivalent to New Zealand year 13 or University Entrance.

Useful New Zealand school subjects:

Calculus, Digital Technologies, Mathematics, Statistics

English Language requirements:

IELTS (Academic) 6.0 overall with all bands 5.5 or higher; or equivalent; TOEFL iBT score of 80; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with B/B+ grade; GIE with B grade; CAE minimum overall score of 169; PTE minimum overall score of 50.
