Awarded annually to a doctoral student who is a citizen and resident of one of the following Pacific countries; Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga and Vanuatu to carry out doctoral study at AUT University. By awarding The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee AUT Doctoral Scholarship AUT aims to:

Establish enduring education and professional linkages.
The scholarship will be awarded annually to a doctoral student who is a citizen, and resident in, one of the following Pacific countries; Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga and Vanuatu to carry out doctoral study at AUT University. Applicants must be a citizen and resident of one of the eligible countries. Applicants may not have citizenship or permanent residence status of New Zealand or any other developed country. Applicants who are New Zealand citizens from the Cook Islands, Niue, Tokelau and dual citizens of Samoa are exempt from this requirement; however, they must reside in the Cook Islands, Nuie, Tokelau or Samoa or another eligible country. Preference may be given to those applicants who have also been schooled in an eligible country.
The recipients of this scholarship will have strong academic references plus a strong academic record and/or have demonstrated the potential for quality research. Previous study should include research methodologies papers and an independent research project, including the writing of a report on that research.
One each year
$25,000 annual stipend Tuition fees and Student Services Levies
Up to three years, renewable annually on satisfactory progress.

It is not possible to submit incomplete scholarship applications through the online application process. In order for the application to be submitted all requested documentation must be included.
The following documents or statements must be completed and uploaded in the application portal by the closing date. Incomplete applications will not be forwarded to the selection panel.

* Academic transcript(s) if any previous tertiary study has been completed at a university other than AUT
If a suitable applicant for this scholarship is not available in any year the panel may award an additional Vice Chancellor's Doctoral Scholarship.
