The New Zealand Schools Scholarship is for middle and high school students from Vietnam to study at a selected New Zealand school for one year.  Future proof yourself for success with a New Zealand Education!  If you want to prepare for the future with one of the world's best education systems, then this scholarship is for you.  New Zealand schools offer a new way of learning and a wide range of subjects that will help you gain creativity and critical thinking for the future skills you want.

Our schools encourage students to think creatively and independently, allowing every student to reach their potential. 

18 New Zealand Schools Scholarships are available for middle or high school students. Each He Tohu Hiranga scholarship provides a 50% subsidy on the full-year school tuition fees [four terms] of the first year of study in New Zealand. Scholars must study in New Zealand for a minimum of one school year (40 weeks/4 terms - not including holidays), commencing Term in 1 in February 2021.

How to apply?

To apply, you must:

  • Have completed Grade 8, 9 or 10 in a Vietnamese middle school or high school, and 
  • Be a legal citizen of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and 
  • Be aged between 13 and 16 years at the time of application, and 
  • Meet the requirements for GPA (from 8.0) and English (equivalent to IELTS 5.5), and
  • Be able to take up the New Zealand Schools Scholarship for a minimum of one school year (4 terms), commencing in February 2021

Selection Criteria

The scholarships will be awarded on academic excellence and merit of the expression of interest submitted by the applicant. 

  • Proof you are a Vietnamese national, e.g. screenshot of passport
  • A notarized copy of your school reports for the 2018-2019 and the 2019-2020 school year that show your GPA
  • English certificates (IELTS, or PTE Academic, or TOEFL iBT, or Duolingo or any relevant certificate showing your English capability)
  • Provide the name and contact details of your parent(s), guardian(s) or caregiver(s). We will contact them for you to take part in the scholarship programme if your application is successful. 
  • Provide the URL to a short video (max 90 seconds) that includes content, images and audio that introduce yourself, and why you think you are the right candidate to be awarded this scholarship
