Selwyn House School is a leading New Zealand Girls' school for Years 1-8. Located in Merivale, in the heart of Christchurch, we celebrate the rich diversity and global influences international students bring to our community. Selwyn House School offers small class sizes and an International Baccalaureate curriculum aimed at developing the academic, social and emotional wellbeing of our girls. Our caring and dedicated teachers are committed to helping girls find personal and academic success. 

We encourage all girls to become involved in the life of the school. Opportunities to develop interests are available in a range of sports, Music, Speech and Drama and Dance. English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Tuition is available to all international students.

Within two hours of an international airport, you can ski, play golf, bungy jump, go whitewater rafting, mountain biking, wind surfing, whale watching, and visit world-class vineyards and gardens. Where else in the world can you do that?

A must-see is New Zealand’s highest peak, Aoraki Mount Cook. Go hiking in Arthur’s Pass National Park or just wander around the picturesque bays and villages of Banks Peninsula. And then there’s New Zealand's second-largest city, Christchurch known as 'The Garden City'.

Christchurch is a beautiful city where you can cycle alongside the river, stay in good hotels and indulge in fine sophisticated dining, and a city where, just 15 minutes from the centre, you can scramble up mountain bike tracks or ride a wave at a surf beach.
