Kaiapoi High School

Secondary (Years 9-13, approx age 13-17)

Kaiapoi High is a coed school based approximately 20 minutes north of Christchurch. The school provides secondary education to those students in the town of Kaiapoi and the many outlying country towns  surrounding it on all sides.

Our school key focus areas are through our multi cultural diversity, cross section of subjects we offer and the caring nature given by all staff to the students and community around. Small enough to care for all and big enough to provide exciting and 'different' educational opportunities.

With new modern learning teaching rooms being used from 2018 our school boosts new and up to date facilities. These  include a 'working' cafe, excellent musical and drama department, wonderful technology area, visual and wearable arts studios and plenty of space for sport.

Our Cultural learning centre greets you upon entry and is used for school and community based interactions.

Your international experience is capped off by 'your' choice of homestay either rural or in the township. Engaging with and being a part of a local family will give you a feeling of total support, enjoyment and a great 'kiwi' experience.

Kaiapoi High School provides an educational journey like no other and life experiences to savour.

Canterbury stretches from ocean to the Alps, and is a land of plains and peaks. It is a place of variety and innumerable attractions.

Within two hours of an international airport, you can ski, play golf, bungy jump, go whitewater rafting, mountain biking, wind surfing, whale watching, and visit world-class vineyards and gardens. Where else in the world can you do that?

A must-see is New Zealand’s highest peak, Aoraki Mount Cook. Go hiking in Arthur’s Pass National Park or just wander around the picturesque bays and villages of Banks Peninsula. And then there’s New Zealand's second-largest city, Christchurch known as 'The Garden City'.

Christchurch is a beautiful city where you can cycle alongside the river, stay in good hotels and indulge in fine sophisticated dining, and a city where, just 15 minutes from the centre, you can scramble up mountain bike tracks or ride a wave at a surf beach.
