Studying can be stressful with lots of assignments and assessments. But in my case, I am having a great time. The combination of fresh air, no traffic, newfound friends make my learning more interesting and helps me cope easily. The support system for international students from our school is really great. The learning advisors are also a big help in giving comments and tips to improve our essays and research papers. A one-week break during the term is a big help to rest our minds and reset our energy levels for the remaining weeks of the term. This break is also a good time to explore the country and visit places that will make you closer to nature. It is something that my partner and I really love!
Another interesting thing is dealing with people from different cultures – from the tutors to school staff and classmates. I am amazed by how we are all different but can still find common ground or topics to start a conversation with – like family and food! And I do not feel any discrimination at all.
One thing that also amazes me is the equal opportunity given to international students to find jobs. A student can work up to 20 hours per week and this is a great help to offset the cost of living. I brought pocket money with me but I still chose to have a part-time job to gain further experience in New Zealand.
I have been to different countries but I would say that New Zealand is so far the one that makes it easy to study. There may be pros and cons her but I really fell in love with this country and would recommend it to my friends and relatives who are also planning to study abroad.
