The University of Waikato, based in the city of Hamilton in New Zealand’s North Island, is one of New Zealand’s leading research universities, made up of seven faculties and schools, with more than 12,000 students, including 2000 international students.
The main campus covers 64 hectares of landscaped gardens and lakes, with extensive sporting and recreational areas and has four Halls of Residence.
Many international students take the opportunity to study at our coastal campus in Tauranga.
We have recently launched a new international scholarship specifically aimed at high achieving international students from selected countries. For more information click here.

Our students say Waikato has the most beautiful campus in the country. All our first-class facilities are in one location, building a strong sense of community. You’ll find Waikato has a laid-back and easy atmosphere and in 2014, the campus was declared smoke free. Students meet for coffee by the lakes, chill out on the lawns or play touch rugby on the fields.
